Monoprints, painting, hand-made books
Denise Kester is an artist, writer, and teacher living in Ashland, Oregon. She is a printmaker specializing in monoprint and monotype viscosity printing. Denise uses monoprinting with lithography inks and an etching press to create visual stories, where she expresses her love for animals and the natural world. Most of her works include text and stories that illumine the work on a deeper level. Writing is an integral part of the art making experience for her.
Along with printmaking, Denise utilizes drawing, painting and encaustic wax in her work. Denise’s skills include creating handmade books and whimsical altered figurines.
Denise is author of Drawing on the Dream, published in 2024. This book explores her process and revelations about art and printmaking, with beautiful illustrations and practical guidance and personal experience through art, dreams, and life.
Denise Kester continues to send “Art Lifts Postcard” blog newsletters to her followers and patrons. These newsletters are filled with current art, news and events. For more information visit drawingonthedream.com.
“Art-making is my soul work. When I am engaged in finding the story in the ink, I am at the center of my being, I am in my strength. Magic happens here. Creating art is my connection to community and the Dreamtime. It is what I love.”
