Artist Statement

Paint has been my medium of choice from the beginning of my artistic journey, starting at age five and standing at the kindergarten easel with a row of tempera paints in cut-open milk cartons, to my present days of watercolor painting on archival paper and canvas. I paint in watermedia mostly; gouache and acrylic paint get used in various combinations, yet I have not given up oil painting.

Direct painting with an intuitive approach is my ”feeling method” to begin an artwork. This abstracted style helps to instill the fundamental design elements into an art composition from the very beginning. The concepts I use in my work are gleaned from inspirations by the natural beauty of the environment, and further intrigued by inner directives found in dreams, meditations, and the creative spirit.
