Painting

As a child, I was encouraged by two elders to develop as an artist, and I took that push seriously. I focused on fine arts in school and I received my college degrees from Southern Oregon University, Ashland, Oregon: a Bachelor’s degree with a Painting emphasis, and a Master’s degree in Education. I taught Art as a certified teacher in Oregon and California schools, community colleges and in my home studio.

Watercolor is usually the medium I work with. My paintings in watercolor media currently on display in The Talent Gallery express the journeys I take toward abstraction. My different techniques and approaches to painting result in pushing the boundaries of the medium. Intuitive painting helps me to begin and define the subject; poured watercolor provides fresh discoveries in the evolution of the picture.
